Hotel lifetime status in 2026: Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt run on three different clocks
Marriott Lifetime Platinum, Hilton Lifetime Diamond and World of Hyatt Lifetime Globalist look like three versions of one goal. In reality, their metrics and benefit packages are different. Marco knows Marriott Lifetime Platinum from personal use — a reason to separate the rules more carefully, not less.
The current rule core

Marriott: two axes that may finish at different times
Marriott combines qualifying nights with years at the relevant tier or higher. Lifetime Platinum currently requires 600 nights and ten years at Platinum or above. Its app shows Lifetime Nights and Eligible Status Years separately.
This creates two very different situations. Extra mattress runs cannot solve a missing-years constraint when the nights are already complete. Someone with ten years but materially fewer than 600 nights must instead ask whether normal travel closes the gap inside their active horizon.
Hilton: current terms before old screenshots
Hilton’s current canonical terms require ten completed Diamond years plus either 1,000 paid or reward nights or US$200,000 in Eligible Spend. A year counts only after 365 days at Diamond are complete.
The audit also surfaced an older official language/cache variant that still names two million Base Points as the second route. That is not a reason to merge two rules. It is a warning to use the current canonical terms and, before material spend, written Hilton confirmation.
Hyatt: one metric, but not every point
World of Hyatt currently requires one million Lifetime Base Points. Bonus Points do not count. The model is conceptually simpler but does not make a chase automatically rational. Eligible spend, normal annual Base Points and the future use of Globalist matter.
Lifetime Globalist currently includes concierge access and annual awards such as four Suite Upgrade Awards, one Category 1–7 Free Night Award and five Guest of Honor Awards. These can be valuable, but remain changeable and have separate validity and use conditions.
Three common calculation errors
- Wrong axis: buying nights when years are limiting, or counting bonus points when only Base Points qualify.
- Gross value: pricing breakfast, lounge or suites at list price even though you would not buy them.
- No horizon: modelling ten years to the target while expecting only five more years of frequent use.
A better method
Use the official balance and correct target metric. Derive a normal annual rate from actual travel. Only then define an accelerated path and the cost that exists solely because of it. The economic benefit is not “lifetime forever”; it is the specific period during which acceleration makes the tier available earlier.

Bottom line
Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt sell the same emotional idea on three different clocks. Treating them as one progress percentage produces the wrong plan. Find the limiting axis, model normal travel and price acceleration last.
