Miles & More Mileage Bargains 2026: How the Monthly Meilenschnäppchen Actually Work
Since 3 June 2025, Lufthansa, Lufthansa City, SWISS and Austrian have moved to fully dynamic award pricing — the old fixed-discount "Meilenschnäppchen" on those carriers are gone for good. What survives, confirmed on the live official page, is a five-airline programme with its own rhythm, and it's still worth watching.
What's still live, and what isn't
As of mid-2026, official Miles & More mileage bargains ("Meilenschnäppchen") exist for only five carriers: Brussels Airlines, Croatia Airlines, Eurowings, LOT Polish Airlines and Luxair. Lufthansa, Lufthansa City, SWISS and Austrian switched to full dynamic award pricing on 3 June 2025 and no longer run fixed-discount deals at all. Discover Airlines discontinued its version in March 2026. ITA Airways shows up on most independent trackers but isn't named on the official Miles & More carrier list — treat its inclusion as unconfirmed.
A lot of older blog and forum content still describes Lufthansa or SWISS Meilenschnäppchen as current. That's outdated. If a source doesn't distinguish before/after June 2025, be sceptical of it.
How the mechanics work
Official wording: bookable from 12,000 miles, with savings of "up to 50%" against regular Award Flight pricing, in "monthly changing offers." In practice that means a new batch of routes and prices is published at the start of each calendar month, and the booking window is that same month. Long-haul Business availability tends to shrink fast as the month goes on, so searching in the first few days gives the best shot at the good seats.
How far ahead you can actually fly varies by airline. LOT tends to open the shortest lead time, roughly one to two months out. Brussels, Croatia, Eurowings and (when it appears) ITA short-haul routes typically run about two months ahead; Brussels long-haul options usually sit three-and-a-half to five months out; Luxair pushes roughly a month further still. ITA's long-haul bargains are unpredictable and have skipped several consecutive months through mid-2026.
Illustrative discount depth, based on independent trackers rather than a fixed published table: Economy short-haul around 12,000 miles round-trip, intra-Europe Business around 25,000, and long-haul Business bands somewhere in the low-to-high tens of thousands depending on region — all consistent with the official "up to 50%" framing, but exact figures shift month to month and shouldn't be treated as guaranteed.
What Lufthansa/SWISS/Austrian offer instead
In their place, Miles & More launched "Award Flight Highlights" in July 2025 — a curated set of dynamically priced fares rather than a fixed-discount table. It skews short-haul and Economy Light, is organised by hub, and only sporadically includes long-haul routes worth booking, according to independent trackers.
The fine print that catches people out
Surcharges are never payable in miles and can run from roughly €50–200 on short-haul Economy up to €400–1,450 on long-haul Business, with LOT and Eurowings generally the cheapest and Brussels or ITA long-haul the most expensive. Officially, mileage-bargain bookings cannot be cancelled or rebooked — only government taxes and fees are refunded if unused, and normal elite perks like waitlisting or companion awards don't apply.
No source gives a reliable "sells out in X hours" figure, and we won't invent one. What's consistently true: the best long-haul Business availability goes first, often within the opening days of the month. If you see something you want, book it — don't wait to compare.
