Marriott's 5,000-Point Offer: Worth Booking Before 31 August?
Marriott's current offer sounds simple: book a qualifying stay of at least two nights by 31 August 2026 and earn up to 5,000 Bonvoy bonus points. The catch is that “up to” does nearly all the work. Your bonus depends on the brand, the promotional rate may not be the cheapest available rate, and a short booking window does not make an expensive stay valuable. Here is the calculation that matters before you commit.
The offer in one minute
Marriott's official offer page lists a booking deadline of 31 August 2026 and valid stay dates from 23 June through 15 September 2026. The stay must cover at least two nights at a participating property and the offer is booked with promotional code S2449. This is a rate offer, not a universal bonus automatically attached to every reservation, so verify the code and bonus in the rate details before paying.
The bonus is based on the hotel brand. Element, Residence Inn, Marriott Executive Apartments, Protea, Four Points Flex and Apartments by Marriott earn 1,000 points. AC Hotels, Aloft, Courtyard, Fairfield, Four Points, Moxy and citizenM earn 2,000. Autograph Collection, Delta, Le Méridien, Marriott Hotels, Renaissance, Sheraton, Tribute Portfolio and Westin earn 5,000.
What 5,000 points are honestly worth
Bonvoy pricing is dynamic, so there is no fixed cash value. For a deliberately conservative comparison, assume 0.6 euro cents per point. On that basis 1,000 points are worth about €6, 2,000 about €12 and 5,000 about €30. That is a useful rebate on a stay you already planned; it is not a reason to add a hotel night or accept a meaningfully higher rate.
The right comparison is total cost against the best cancellable rate you would otherwise book. If the promotional rate costs €18 more than the standard flexible rate, a 2,000-point bonus is probably a loss under that 0.6-cent assumption. If both rates cost the same and the cancellation rules match, the bonus is genuine upside. Also compare member, advance-purchase and corporate rates where you are eligible, because the points headline never compensates for restrictions you do not need.
Three checks before booking
- Open the final rate details. The property, dates and S2449 rate must all be participating. A brand appearing on the list does not mean every hotel has availability.
- Compare like with like. Match room, breakfast, taxes, cancellation deadline and payment timing before deciding the points are “free”.
- Save the confirmation. Keep the offer page and booking confirmation until the bonus posts. If the code is missing, resolve it before the stay rather than arguing from a screenshot after checkout.
Verdict
This is a good stack for an already-planned two-night stay when S2449 prices at or near the best equivalent rate. The 5,000-point tier is the only one that can feel material, and even then the honest value is closer to a modest dinner than a free luxury night. Do not move a trip, change brands or sacrifice a better cancellation policy merely to collect it.
